Taxi cab confession: Lawyer says SI model not at blame in cab fight

The lawyer for SI swimsuit model Jessica White told the New York Post his client was provoked into a fight over a taxi cab.

White, until recently paired with Sean Penn, was arrested early Saturday morning after reportedly hitting another woman in the face and pulling her hair. She was charted with misdemeanor assault and has a Dec. 15 court date.

"The Sports Illustrated supermodels that I represent, such as Rachel Hunter and Jessica White, are all good sports and super people, not the type of women that get into catfights," attorney Mark Jay Heller told the Post. "Stories concerning celebrities frequently get blown up, and I'm confident that when the air is released from this blown-up story that has obviously been overinflated, all that will be left will be hot air with no substance."

Mel Gibson film cameo cancelled after protests from cast and crew

Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva arrive at the Edge Of Darkness premiere in Paris in February this year. Photograph: Jacques Brinon/AP

Mel Gibson's professional resurrection has suffered another setback after the troubled actor's mooted cameo in the sequel to The Hangover was cancelled following apparent protests from the some of the film's cast and crew.

It emerged this week that Gibson, 54, had been chosen to play a tattoo artist in director Todd Phillips's follow-up to the 2009 comedy blockbuster.

But Warner Bros Pictures and Phillips have now confirmed that he won't be appearing in The Hangover 2.

The director said yesterday that although the producers had been behind his decision to cast Gibson, the move "ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew"
.

Despite earning considerable critical acclaim for directing such films as The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto, Gibson's off-screen antics have attracted more attention than his cinematic efforts over the last few years.

In 2006, when he was arrested for drink-driving, he told the police that "the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world" and addressed his arresting officer as "sugar tits".

He later apologised for his "despicable" remarks, adding: "I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse."

Gibson's reputation took a further drubbing this year when audio recordings emerged in which he ranted at his estranged ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva.

He was also dropped from the talent agency William Morris Endeavor in July.

Gibson, who returned to acting after more than five years away with the thriller Edge of Darkness, is next due to appear in The Beaver, directed by Jodie Foster.

Some had seen his Hangover 2 cameo as a chance for rehabilitation; Mike Tyson's bit-part in the original film was credited with improving his damaged reputation.

The new film, which is set to reunite Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Ed Helms, is scheduled for release next year.

New Zealand PM Bids to Save 'The Hobbit'

WELLINGTON, New Zealand—The prospect of losing a two-part, US$500 million "Lord of the Rings" prequel has prompted New Zealand Prime Minister John Key to act.

Just four months before principal photography was due to begin, director Peter Jackson warned Thursday that Time Warner Inc.'s New Line Cinema will move production of the "The Hobbit"--beset by labor uncertainly--out of the country. New Zealand Actors' Equity union, which had called on actors around the world to refuse to work on the film, appeared to back down after Mr. Jackson's warning, with Actors' Equity organizer Frances Walsh declaring "industrial issues" no longer a barrier. The damage has already been done," said a spokesman for Mr. Jackson's company, Wingnut Films.

Economic and Development Minister Gerry Brownlee agreed. "Sending a message internationally that this was an environment where you have unstable employment relations is absolutely disastrous."

So Mr. Key has stepped up; he and members of his government want to meet with Warner executives here to discuss what can be done to make sure New Zealand doesn't lose the blockbuster. According to New Line spokeswoman Candice McDonough, the California-based company hasn't decided where to make the film; she declined to comment on whether production executives would meet with Mr. Key.

"It's really tragic for New Zealand," said Mr. Key's spokeswoman Jane Fraser-Jones of the possible loss. With an economy that's struggling to shake off the effects of the global financial crisis and a recent earthquake in Christchurch, the country's second-largest city, the government and New Zealand are eager for the investment the film represents. Some economists estimate that the real economic cost of losing "The Hobbit" would far exceed the $500 million budgeted to make the film.

"When you lose these sorts of projects you don't just lose the direct dollar that was going to be spent here," said Cameron Bagrie, chief economist at ANZ National Bank Ltd. in Wellington. Indeed, Economic Development Minister Brownlee estimated "The Hobbit" will create 1,000 jobs and stimulate $1 billion of spending, with scores of New Zealanders hoping for a chance to be one of the movie's many mythical dwarves, elves or trolls."More importantly it has been a 40-year exercise in New Zealand to establish a credible screen production industry here," Mr. Brownlee said.

New Zealand's alpine peaks, rain forests and wilderness provided the dramatic backdrop for Mr. Jackson's three "Lord of the Rings" films, which.have been followed by other big-budget movies—including "King Kong," "The Last Samurai" and "Prince Caspian." The country's film industry generated 2.8 billion New Zealand dollars (US$2.1 billion) last year. Like Mr. Jackson's earlier film trilogy, "The Hobbit" is based on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien; it follows hobbit Bilbo Baggins—whose adopted son, Frodo, is the hero of "Rings," set decades later—on an epic journey across the fictional land of Middle Earth.

The union, which represents performers who work in New Zealand, accused Mr. Jackson and Wingnut of refusing to recognize its right to negotiate a standard industry agreement.

Gwyneth Paltrow to sing at country awards

Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow will sing at next month's Country Music Association Awards.

The Shakespeare In Love star will sing the title track of her new movie Country Strong and will be joined by Vince Gill.

Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban are also set to perform at the ceremony, which takes place at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on 10 November.

Paltrow, 39, has also landed a guest role in the TV musical comedy Glee.

The actress, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, will play a supply teacher who falls for high school choir leader Will Schuester.

It is thought she will perform three or four solo songs in the episode, which is scheduled to go out next month.

In her new movie Paltrow plays a fallen country singer, who tries to resurrect her career by going on tour.

In a recent interview with news agency the Associated Press, Paltrow said she researched the history of country music when she accepted the role.

"I sort of started at the beginning with Hank [Williams] Sr. and Johnny Cash and really studied Dolly [Parton] and Loretta Lynn.

"I had never really known very much about country music, and I now am very into it. I know a lot more about it than I did."

The film is released in the US on 22 December and in the UK on 7 January.

Pakistani actor Ali Zafar saves Katrina Kaif from mishap

Katrina Kaif might have ended up getting seriously injured on the sets of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan had Pakistani singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar not acted in time.

Reportedly, Katrina stood very close to a pedestal fan and her hairs were pulled in and got stuck. Seeing this, Zafar jumped to her rescue and in the process of untangling her hair even suffered a few bruises himself. We hear that a spot boy was also injured in the incident.

While Zafar tried to play down his heroism, Katrina felt gratitude towards him after the mishap was averted. So as a gesture of thanking him, she went ahead and gave him a warm hug.

The spot boy, however, wasn’t so lucky, we hear.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is being shot in the Punjab town of Nabha. The movie stars Imran Khan opposite Katrina. Ali Zafar, who debuted in Tere Bin Laden plays Imran’s brother.

Facebook Enlists More Help to Tackle Anti-Gay Bullying

Facebook and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) last week announced a partnership  to tackle hate speech on the social-networking site. Facebook is now expanding that collaboration to several other organizations to ensure that its online community is free from cyber-bullying.

Facebook is forming what it calls a "Network of Support" as a preventative measure against LGBT bullying, which includes MTV's a Thin Line campaign, GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the Trevor Project, the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), and Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).

"It's not just about removing bad content, it's also about preventing it," said a blog post on Facebook's safety page. "We believe that educating people about the lasting and damaging impact of hateful remarks is a shared responsibility and that's why we routinely call upon top Internet safety experts – like members of our Safety Advisory Board – for advice and resources for our Safety Center and Safety Page."Facebook and GLAAD initially teamed up after anti-gay comments were posted to a Page dedicated to gay teens who had recently committed suicide. The Page focused on an event that called on people to honor the teens by wearing purple on Oct. 20. Facebook pledged to troll the site to better prevent that type of pejorative speech, rather than just responding to it.

With the expanded partnership, Facebook said it hopes to "provide better resources for LGBT teens and everyone who wants to keep the Internet a safe place." Blocking bullies, reporting harassment, sticking up for others, thinking twice before posting, asking for help, and knowing that you're not alone are six tips Facebook included in the post as ways users can help curb cyber-bullying themselves.Yahoo also weighed in on the issue in a Tuesday blog post, and said that its employees would also wear purple on Oct. 20 in support of LGBT individuals.

‘DWTS’ Watch: Florence Henderson Eliminated

n the first Dancing with the Stars shocker of the season, Florence Henderson was eliminated on Tuesday night – and Bristol Palin, whom many thought would get voted off for getting the lowest score, was saved to dance another week.

OK! GALLERY: DWTS CONTESTANTS HAM IT UP ON THE RED CARPET

Incredibly, the famed TV mom, 76, was given her walking papers the night after her feel good tango to her Brady Bunch theme song with partner Corky Ballas. She scored only 21 out of 30 for her dance, but Kyle Massey and his pro Lacey Schwimmer got 20 and Bristol and partner Mark Ballas were in last place with 18 points.

After the show, Bristol told OK! the reason she felt she’d been voted through against all odds this week: “I think people see my rawness and my vulnerability and I’m just so grateful they kept us in another week and they see potential in me. Hopefully I can just prove more to them that I can be a performer and I do belong here.”

Meanwhile, a wistful Florence said she was “a little surprised” when she was sent home. “But I’ve watched this show since it began and I’ve seen absolutely shocking things happen on it. Somebody had to go.” Florence had a bad feeling when the two lowest scoring couples were declared safe early in the show. “Corky, we’re in trouble,” she told her partner backstage. Corky sighed, “That was wild.”

Florence’s devoted partner added, “It was kind of sad we went on our best dance. She was just starting to crank it up. She was getting strong, just learning how to really speed up her feet. We were just getting a breakthrough.”

OK! DWTS WATCH: BRISTOL PALIN BOMBS; BRANDY’S THE BEST

It wasn’t meant to be but the beloved TV icon will be left with a lot of happy memories of being on DWTS for five weeks. “I’m going to miss seeing Corky Ballas every day and just learning new dances. I’ve always loved dancers since I started in the business.“

Florence said of all her DWTS co-stars, “oddly enough, I think I bonded the most with Bristol.” When asked if she had been a mother figure to the 20-year-old politician’s daughter having her first Hollywood experience, Florence said, “I think so– from the very beginning. Bristol was always close to me.” In fact, Corky mimicked Bristol for reporters, showing how she would stand behind Florence on the set and give her adoring looks.

Don’t cry for the veteran star — Florence has plenty to do now that her DWTS journey is complete, including finishing her memoir, which will come out on Mother’s Day, performing her one-woman show, and doing commercials for Bausch and Lomb.

OK! GALLERY: THE STARS GET READY TO REHEARSE THEIR RUMBAS!

Brandy, who led this week with a score of 27 with partner Maks Chmerkovskiy, was in tears on the press line as she bid Florence farewell. She later told reporters, “I had a lot of intimate conversations with her, I watched her rehearse and she’s come and watched me and has given me so many words of encouragement to just let my light shine.”

Those were sentiments echoed by Bristol, who said, “I love Florence. She was definitely my best friend on this entire thing and I’m going to miss having her backstage. She’s so supportive, happy, and upbeat.”

Many DWTS viewers, however, thought Bristol had reached the end of her reality show experience. On Monday, Bristol and Mark performed the jive to the Monkees theme song and opened the dance in monkey costumes. Although judges were kind, it was obvious Sarah Palin’s daughter made many missteps. Tuesday night, Bristol herself laughed backstage to reporters, “I completely forgot what dance moves I had next and I was so focused on getting the [monkey] suit off. I was kind of just looking around like, oh, great, and finally got it off and then got the routine rolling—but definitely a big hiccup on my part.”

Bristol admitted, “I was definitely shocked and surprised when they said we were safe and with our low scores and stuff, it was pretty stressful. [Being called safe] was a huge relief lifted off my shoulders. I was scared and nervous going into tonight but I was thrilled that we got through and we’re moving on to another week.”

OK! GALLERY: DANCING WITH THE STARS CAST COMPETES TO REHEARSE

She wants viewers to know “I’m really shy and pretty timid and like to keep to myself and I’m super close to my family so it’s hard for me to get out there and show my personality — but I am fun and happy and upbeat and stuff and hopefully that will continue to unpeel and show to everyone out there.”

The teen abstinence advocate turned 20 on Monday and told OK! for her birthday celebration she had “a mellow dinner with my family and watched Mark perform at The Mint,” the Los Angeles music club.

Now Bristol and the other dancers move on to next week, in which all the couples must perform TWO dances, including one to a rock song. “Usually I retain routines pretty well, so hopefully I’ll be able to get both of them down,” Bristol said. “I’m nervous about the four minute long dance for the rock and roll routine—just because that’s a long time. We’re used to only dancing a minute 40 seconds. We’ve got lots of work to do this week [but] I’m excited. ”

Kim Kardashian: 30th Birthday Las Vegas Style (Photos, Video)

The big 3-0 is approaching fast for Kim Kardashian! 30 years ago she was born and she has mixed feelings about this particular birthday. She is already living it up though, and for the full story, pictures and videos from the night, keep reading below. That’s right, Thursday October 21st is when the reality TV star hits the milestone but last weekend she partied in Las Vegas with her family and lots of friends and fans. She may be getting older but she still looks hot, and was amazing at her shindig.

She was wearing a little, tight silver dress and some killer heels. Don’t worry, below I have more like the photo above. At the TAO in Las Vegas her family was also looking good, as they left the men and had a girl’s night for Kim Kardashian’s 30th birthday bash!

And they seemed to be having a great time. They each got on the microphone and joked. They had some White Russians, got touchy feely and did some drunk tweeting! She also hit up New York this past weekend while celebrating her big day.

Overall she seems to be happy with where she is at in her life. She did admit to “mixed feelings” and said to one reporter:

“Like, it sounds so old. And then the other half of me is like, I feel so accomplished and it’s really no different than 29. I did a lot in my 20’s. I did a lot in my teens. God, I feel old. I’m so freaked out!”

Regardless of the age, she is ringing it in with style. They must love her at TAO as she did a pre-celebration there for her 29th birthday as well. She rocked a sparkly silver dress then too, but personally I liked this year’s better. Check out a picture here.

Can you believe this celebrity is hitting 30?! Kim Kardashian looks great and seems to be at a great place in her life. She should be very happy with where she’s at. What do you think about the brunette getting older? Leave me your comments about the party and such below, after you check out these photos and video from her party!

US actress Barbara Billingsley dies

Billingsley played the archetypal 1950s stay-at-home mum, June Cleaver, in the show which ran from 1957 to 1963.

The actress, who had rheumatoid disease, died at her home in Santa Monica, California, said family spokeswoman Judy Twersky.

Billingsley also appeared in spoof movie Airplane in 1980.

She returned as June Cleaver in a 1983 TV movie, Still the Beaver.

In 1997, she played a cameo role, as Aunt Martha, in Leave It To Beaver.

"Now some people, they just associate you with that one role," Billingsley once said.

"And it makes it hard to do other things. But as far as I'm concerned, it's been an honour."

'Dexter' recap: 'There Were Others'

Dexter has surprised us time and time again with the emotions and traits he is capable of demonstrating -- and fabricating -- when put to the test. But tonight, we saw him grapple with a different kind of challenge as he tried to decide how to deal with the innocent torture victim (guest star Julia Stiles) who'd witnessed him exterminating Boyd at the end of last week's episode.

We opened with Dexter gingerly cleaning the wounds on the unconscious woman's back. Yet while I'd argue this quiet compassion of Dexter's is one of his finest traits, it's oddly enough the one that Harry seems to disapprove of the most. As Dexter tended to girl, Harry posed the tough questions. "What's your plan here? Nurse her back to health so she can go to the police? If she gives the cops enough to track you down then everything falls apart. Harrison grows up visiting you on death row." Dexter didn't have an answer. And he didn't have time to ponder the issue further because the mystery woman woke up -- and (not surprisingly) freaked out. Without an alternative, Dexter drugged her into a deep sleep. Then, the reality of having a very live hostage on his hands struck Dexter, and he began to lose his cool (and his shirt).

Ever the woman with impeccable timing, Deb called wanting help on a case. That's when Dexter became aware that not only had he lost track of time, but that he'd left his babysitter to pull an all-nighter. His problems were mounting. Luckily, he realized that he could use his hook-up at PD to ID the girl, so he agreed to help Deb.

In less than five minutes at the crime scene -- the beheading we saw last week -- Dexter figured out the sequence of fatal blows and found cigar ash. These minor developments put the stagnant case back into motion, especially when a partial print was later removed from a cigar butt the team had found in the alley behind the scene of the crime.

Back at home, Dexter's furious nanny up and quit. And who can blame her? An unexpected 24-hour shift would get underneath anyone's skin. By the end of the episode, though, she would be back on the job, but I can't help but maintain my suspicions about her. I don't think she's a full-fledged villain, and yet at the same time, I know that Dexter has always been a show that makes sure every character serves a purpose to the story. I feel like this child-care provider will eventually complicate Dexter's home life in a significant way. (Share your theories and guesses in the comments!)

Over in the land of hang-ups, Quinn continued his quest to solve the mystery of Kyle Butler/Dexter. When his efforts to get a private meeting with the Mitchell family fell through, he decided to take the matter into his own stupid, sausage-fingered hands, tracking down the FBI detective he had been working with to try to locate the Mitchell's safe house. He later returned and trailed eldest son Jonah to a convenience store. Even though Jonah was escorted by the FBI, Quinn was able to corner him in and show him the picture of Dexter. Cue my sweat glands activating.

Shah Rukh Khan Jumps From 300-ft in Don 2

October 12, 2010, (Sawf News) - Shah Rukh Khan jumped from the roof of the Park Inn Hotel on the Alexanderplatz in Berlin on the second day of filming of Don 2 in the city on October 12.

In this scene, Shahrukh Khan is being chased by gangsters and his only way out is to jump from the roof.

A stuntman jumped for him to begin with, for the long shots, before Shah Rukh made the plunge himself for a close up. Despite the cables and pulleys that made the jump safe for Shah Rukh, the experience must have been both frightening and exhilarating for the 44-year-old actor, a consummate artiste and one of Bollywood's most popular stars.

Not many of us can even dare to look down from 30-ft, let alone jump from 300-ft.

Following the jump, Shah Rukh shared the experience with his Twitter fans.

"Just did a over 300 feet base jump for Don...cos u all make me believe i can fly. Time to tell kids about the birds and the bees...ha ha.

"my jump was last shot of day. want to thank my duplicate & action team, to do it before me for wide shots & make me feel confident about it."
