“Crook”, a Bollywood film labelled as racist

The latest Bollywood movie “Crook: it’s Good to be Bad”, which contains various scenes which take their inspiration from the brutal attacks on Indian educates in Melbourne, has been labelled as a racist movie.

The movie portrays Melbourne as a place filled with violence between Indians and Australians. The locals of Melbourne are shown as people who are always drinking beer or doing women.

A writer in India Today wrote, “The movie has tried to capture every element of racism it possibly could. It’s really terrible and poorly directed. In the movie you see a blonde dancing on the pole with big breasts while her brother is seen attacking Indians”.

Adding further, he said, “It’s typically a racist film”. However, the director of the movie Mohit Suri claims to have his inspiration from a visit to a Sunshine store. He said, “I saw the news flashing before my eyes regarding more than 20 incidents of curry bashing taking place. I stood outside a convenience store and tried thinking of a story”. “I was really furious and thought that I, as a director should voice this”.
